How can we help?

Find help with fishing forecasts, water selection, trip planning, logbook entries, location access, and subscriptions.

Planning guidance, not a catch guarantee

BitePlan combines available environmental data into planning estimates. Always follow official weather alerts, water conditions, and local fishing regulations.

Troubleshooting

Start with the section that matches what you see in the app. These steps resolve the most common issues without removing your saved trips or logbook entries.

01

Forecast is unavailable

  1. Confirm that the device has an active internet connection.
  2. Open the Forecast screen and pull down to refresh.
  3. Confirm that a real lake, river, reservoir, or coastal water is selected.
  4. Close and reopen BitePlan if the loading state does not clear.
02

Nearby waters do not appear

  1. Open iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
  2. Allow BitePlan to use location while you use the app.
  3. Return to Choose Water and refresh nearby waters.
  4. You can also search for an exact water name without sharing location.
03

Two waters show the same window

Nearby waters may share the same Apple Weather forecast grid. If no separate tide or streamflow signal is available, their recommended windows can be the same.

Check Forecast Confidence in the app to see which inputs were available for that water.

04

Premium access or purchase issue

  1. Confirm that the App Store is signed in with the Apple ID used for purchase.
  2. In BitePlan Settings, select Restore Purchases.
  3. Manage or cancel an active subscription in Apple ID subscription settings.
  4. If access is still missing, email support with the purchase date. Do not send full payment details.
05

Trip or logbook help

Choose a recommended window to create a trip. After the trip, record the outcome, duration, optional fish species, and a private note.

When contacting support, do not include a private fishing spot or personal note unless it is necessary to explain the problem.

06

Time or units look incorrect

  • Forecast windows use the selected water's local time.
  • Change between US customary and metric units in BitePlan Settings.
  • Verify that the selected water name and region match the place you intend to fish.

Frequently asked questions

Details about forecast inputs, recommendations, location use, coverage, and account billing.

Where does BitePlan's forecast data come from?

Weather forecasts, sunrise, sunset, and moon phase come from Apple Weather. In the United States, BitePlan may also use qualifying nearby USGS streamflow observations and NOAA tide predictions. Availability depends on the selected water and nearby reporting stations.

What does "best time" mean?

It is the strongest qualifying environmental window for the selected day, based on available weather, daylight, water movement, moon phase, and eligible private fishing history. It is not a prediction that fish will bite and does not guarantee a catch.

Do water temperature and fish species affect the score?

Water temperature and season are shown as context but are not scored without a verified model for a specific species. A species entered in a trip or logbook entry is a private record and does not change the general environmental forecast.

Why does BitePlan request location access?

Location is used when you ask to find nearby waters. You can deny location access and search for a water by name instead. Water coordinates are also needed to request conditions for the selected forecast point.

Does BitePlan work outside the United States?

Apple Weather coverage may be available in other countries. USGS and NOAA water-station inputs are limited to qualifying United States stations, so forecasts elsewhere may use weather, daylight, and moon phase without streamflow or tide-station data.

How do I manage, cancel, or request a refund?

Apple processes App Store purchases. Manage or cancel a subscription at Apple Subscriptions. Refund eligibility and requests are handled through Report a Problem.
